A Teenagers Take on Turning 17

I’m pretty pathetic at introductions to each post..

And the ending…

Sometimes my actual post turns out okay though.. *Sometimes being the operative word*

Anyway, it’s Monday and it’s pretty gloomy weather out here. It’s dull but it doesn’t rain and it’s super humid.. which is just annoying. Anyway, I decided to write a post on turning 17 because apparently it’s a rite of passage or something..

But it’s funny really at how I’m writing this post right now..

Purely because my birthday was a month ago.. more than  a month ago to be honest.

For all those of you who don’t know when my birthday is (that’s basically everyone here) it’s somewhere towards the end of June… Try guessing..

Also, to throw it out there, I’m a Gemini. Maybe your guesses are actually spot on. Lemme know though when you think my birthday was.. if you’re actually going to think about it. 

But the real reason I’m writing this post is because I was randomly going through my “Little About Me” page and I realised that my age is still 16 on there. I updated that right after luckily but that’s when it struck me that I’ve actually turned 17.

I know it’s a month later but this is when it finally struck me. And at the same time it struck me that I have just 5 more months of high school left and that I’m soon going to have to make some really touch decisions. It made me realise that in another year, I’m no longer going to be viewed as the confused and misunderstood teenager that I know I am, but an actual adult. Which makes all this so scary.

I always used to compare 17 to a place that was in the middle of nowhere but on the road to everywhere. I still do, but I’ve realised that 17 is so much more than that. Turning 17 signifies that you still have a year left to fulfill all the childish dreams that you have without all those judgmental stares. It’s a pretty darn important year cause after this no one’s going to buy the whole teenage angst story anymore. They’re going to view you as a responsible adult and think that you have your act together. 

What’s even more frightening than that? I don’t think I’m  going to have my act together in a year. There are so many times when someone asks me how old I am and my first answer’s going to be “16” but I quickly change it to “17”. It’s probably because when I say “16”, I know I have two more years and that seems like a lifetime but when I say “17”, 18 seems so near. 

17 might just be a number to many but once it dawned upon me that in a year there’s going to be so much more expected of me, I freaked. And the result of that is this post. 🙂

The Different Types of Fangirls – Straight From A Fangirl

I got the idea for this post after I stumbled upon two fangirls who were almost tearing each others hair out because well they were *HUGE* fangirls of some band member. It was amusing but so utterly ridiculous because let’s face it, I’m sure that band member has no clue that these two girls exist let alone know that he’s apparently “married” to one. Yes, I kid you not. She said ‘married’.

At times like this I really hope I have some of my faith in humanity left by the time I’m no longer a teenager. 

So who EXACTLY is a fangirl?

As quoted from Urban Dictionary (because well, the only dictionary to have this word in it is probably Urban Dictionary) “A fangirl is a (female) fan of a character from a movie, anime, video game, etc. or a real life actor or singer. Usually they have an obsession with their “idol” and do various activities to show their love for the said idol. Such activities include ranting about them, making shrines or fanlistings, creating graphics (wallpapers, layouts, etc) that feature the “idol”, writing fanfics and making fanart. Some also make plushies or collect posters and other merchandise of their beloved idol.”

Now obviously there are various types of Fangirls. Let’s put it this way – I fangirl over 5 Seconds of Summer but I certainly don’t put myself in the same category as those girls fighting over a certain band member.

So here are some of the different types of fangirls you’re going to come across some point in your life or have probably already seen.

1.  The Originals aka We’re Creepy Stalkers (I like how it sounded like the T.V. show) – These are the girls who’ve been dedicated to the artist/band/t.v show or whatever since the very beginning. They’re the ones who first followed the ‘celebs’ on Twitter and know literally everything about them. They normally think they have some superior bond with the person and are extremely possessive about them. They’ve seen the person/people go through their transformation and have been behind them right from their fetus (teen slang, not literally a fetus) days to their current status. It’s ridiculous but you better not mess with them. 

They know everything about the band. From the first song, to the first YouTube cover to even their entire family history. They take great pride in the fact that they know everything and often bore other people with the ton of things they do know. Also, they will cut you off if you haven’t supported the band since the beginning because you ain’t a true fan if you ain’t been with them since the day they were formed. 

2. The “Fancy” Followers aka If They’re Famous, I Like Them-  These are the people who don’t know a thing about the band but still call themselves fangirls. It’s the type of fangirls who became fangirls of 5 Seconds of Summer after listening to only “She Looks So Perfect” and then going for the concerts when they don’t even know which band member is who. Yes, people like this do exist. Or people who are supposedly MAJOR fangirls of One Direction after only listening to “What Makes You Beautiful”. Yes, I’ve come across a dozen people like this. Or girls who are ‘apparently’ fangirls of Nirvana after listening to one song – Smells Like Teen Spirit.

But because these are famous bands, these girls become fangirls. They’re the type to fangirl just because they think it makes them look good or whatever. They don’t know what actual fangirls are talking about but still join in because they need the attention and hence pretend they’re massive fangirls. 

3. The Obsessive Shipper and Stalker aka I’m Watching EVERY single step that you take because we’re married-  These fangirls are the most scary people EVER. Legit. They live in some fantasy world where they’re married to the band member and well, all hell breaks loose if someone tries to bring them back to reality. And it’s chaos if two of these type of fangirls meet and realize they’re both in love with the same band member who definitely hasn’t heard of them. They spend their entire day just stalking the band or the band member and know everything, literally everything about them. They’re the type to know exactly when and where the band is and what they’re doing. Their walls are plastered with pictures of the band and they’re the type to but ALL the band merchandise possible. 

4. The Sane Fangirl aka I’m a fangirl and I love the band but I will not kill you if you don’t like the band or if you like the same band member- This is probably the safest and nicest fangirl you’ll meet. They’re the one’s who are cool with you not liking the same band or you loving the same band member. They’re obviously a bit possessive but they’re also the one’s who are realistic enough to realise that a million other girls are in love with them. They’re the relaxed ones and even though they know a ton about the band, they don’t go around telling uninterested people what they know.

31 Day Challenge for January

Day 3: The theme is “Bucket List”

Yay! I’ve always wanted to blog about my bucket list and now I’m getting a chance to 🙂

For those who do not know what a bucket list is, it’s basically a list of all the things you want to do before you die. It includes all the experiences and the goals you want to achieve and everyone is highly recommended to have a bucket list.

So I’m going to include 10 things that are on MY bucket list because I cannot write a million things on this post (well I can, but I’m too lazy).

These are in order whatsoever and again, there’s a million other things that I’m not writing on here. If you have a bucket list or are planning to write a post with your bucket list just send me an email and I shall definitely see it 😀

Bucket List

1) Travel all around the world- I’ve always wanted to go to Rome, Venice, Spain, USA, Mexico,Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Greenland, Norway, Canada,France, Britiain…. well, you get my point. So I’m going to go to these places one at a time and slowly tick them off.

2) Meet 5 Seconds Of Summer OR at least go to their concert- I don’t care how old I’m going to be; if I have a chance of going to their concert or meeting them, I’m going to do exactly that! Nothing gets in my way.

3) Get a tattoo- Okay, so I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo and I haven’t discussed this even with my parents yet. A tattoo was the second thing I wanted to do right after getting blue and purple streaks( I’ve already got blue ones done so yay). I’m turning 18 in around two years so I have two years to convince my parents( who are both completely against the idea I might add). So the tattoo I want to get done is a treble clef on either my ankle or wrist.

4) Go scuba-diving- I have always wanted to do this. Unfortunately my parents refuse to let me do this on my own and they don’t want to scuba-dive. So this is definitely one of the things I want to do before I die because who wouldn’t? The experience would be fantastic!

5) Open a small bakery- So I’ve been baking since the 8th grade and I’ve become pretty good at it (I’m humble, what can I say?). It’s become a recent goal of mine to start a small bakery.Obviously that’s not going to happen any time soon, but one day it shall.

6) Go Skiing- Snow! Snow! Snow! Why would anyone not want to go skiing? I’m not even going to give a reason for this.

7) Write a book- I love writing. It’s a stress buster and one of the reasons I actually started blogging was because I love writing and I wanted to share it with other people (aka you, yes you). Soon after I started this blog, I also made an account on Wattpad and I started writing a story. But since everyone knows how punctual I am (sarcasm,sarcasm) I haven’t updated in ages. My goal is to finish the book, sometime. Maybe in another year? (cough, cough. That’s never happening.) Okay to be more realistic in another three years. 😛

8) Eat, Eat and Eat some more Chocolate- I’m a chocoholic. There. I’ve admitted it. My dream i is to eat chocolate from morning till night (even for a midnight snack) for an entire week. I haven’t been able to do this yet because of my dear parents but I shall definitely do this.

9) Become a YouTuber/Viner-  Bucket List Thing To Complete #1. This friend of mine and I decided to open a collab channel and talk about everything and nothing. It’s going to be absolutely hilarious. When is this channel starting? I have no clue. That’s the only thing we haven’t decided yet 😛

10) Go behind someone in a department store and spray disinfectant on anything that they touch- BEST PRANK EVER. If I ever become a YouTuber, you know what the first video’s going to be now. 😀

 

So this is a small part of my bucket list.

Day 2: The theme is “Two”

So I was at a loss on what to write…

It’s been two.. well.. this year it’ll become three years since I heard about 5 Seconds Of Summer.

And over the last year they’ve accomplished soo much 🙂

They’re the funniest boys and well their music is what makes you fall head over heels in love with them.
It’s happened to me.

Their personalities are so beguiling and one thing leads to another and before you know it, you’ve joined the 5sosfam. Their popularity is growing at an enormous rate and this year their new album is being released this year *cue the excited squeals from thousands of people*.

5 Seconds Of Summer is NOT a boy band, they’re simply a band whose music is outstanding.

So I decided to keep this post really short and the thing that symbolises two for me the most was the fact that I’ve been in love with 5 Seconds of Summer for two years 🙂

In no particular order

1) Conversations with a friend of mine who can crack me up even when I feel like crying

2) When I’m completely engrossed in a book and one of the characters jokes around. Trust me, my brother’s often inquired about my state of mind cause I’ll randomly start laughing in the middle of the book.

3) Inside jokes with my friends that no one else gets.

4) 5 Seconds of Summer. The most hilarious boys I have ever come across.

5) Amazingly funny comebacks. Especially if they’re served with a double dose of sarcasm.

I know I’m the most lazy person and don’t post the 30 Day Challenge everyday but I can’t help it. Laziness and doing absolutely nothing will always come before this blog. *Note the Sarcasm.*

So I was listening to music and ta-daaaa! The word I chose was music. You’re just lucky I didn’t choose 5 Seconds of Summer or Luke Hemmings or Penguins or Batman or Pepsi or  chocolate or Luke Hemmings.. *sees that I’ve written Luke Hemmings more than once and will never change it.*

And my 11th picture was this

 

 

 

And I realized that this is EXACTLY what music is. You know how people create playlists or mix cds for when they’re upset, happy or want to party? That’s cause those songs reflect what they’re feeling or what they want to feel. There are some songs that you can just relate to because you’ve been in that situation before and you know exactly what the words mean. I’m not a songwriter or even a lyricist but I feel that music comes from our heart; and only then does it mean something. It’s only then that you truly connect with your audience. I mean look at Selena Gomezs performance at the AMAs. The entire set was so simple yet so powerful only because she felt every word that she sang and even I, someone sitting miles away could see that and connect to that. I guess what I’m trying to say is that music and feelings are complementary or directly proportional, they both are extremely powerful and can move thousands of people.

Now this ninja-ponguinda must go back to what she was doing—- looking at 5 seconds of summers videos and laughing. Yes, I have no life. This is what happens when you enter one of the craziest fandoms but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

You guys are going to become soooo famous that it’s going to be crazy! I wish that I could meet you all… It’d be a dream come true. I can’t go one day without listening to you sing and I don’t even care if that makes me sound crazy.
