A Teenagers Take on Top 5 #3

Hey guys,

I’m soo happy about Christmas being right around the corner.. It’s one of my favourite festivals ever! So this week I was finally able to do a post with P (if you don’t know who she is, she’s one of my closest friends and has already done a couple of posts with me before. So if you want to check those out, click here or here.)  A long time ago, the extremely talented Paradoxical Sadness sent me a bunch of Top 5’s and we’ve finally got to answering them 🙂  Here it goes:

1. Top 5 must see before you die places

S- ROME

P- Switzerland, Rome, Antarctica

S- Les Penguins?  I don’t even know what the word for penguins is 😛 But yeah, Antarctica would be pretty awesome xD

I’d choose Australia, Norway, Los Angeles…

P- HAHAHAHA of course it’s for penguins.. *makes the peace sign* (cause she’s weird like that)

S- And like probably Venice..

P- It stinks bro

S- Yeah but it’s sooo pretty… Actually wait, I change my mind..

P- To be honest, I don’t want to go to Venice alone

S- Russia. I’ll chill with my fellow spies (it’s a long story involving 17/18 languages)

P- Australia.. OH and Ireland

S- We practically have the same places… DUDE Amsterdam

P- Yeah, but Ireland is like  proper countryside. And cancel Australia.. I’d go to Kashmir instead

S- Ladakh buddy. It’s tooo pretty

P- Yeah. That entire state man

S- Okay then.. No Australia. Got it.

P- The next one?

2. Top 5 Fictional Crushes (aka name real, famous people who don’t know you exist and are hence considered fictional)

S- I’m saying Luke Hemmings. He’s practically fictional xD

P- Dude. Do I even have to start? Roger Federer. Surprise Surprise xD

S- Jason Grace from the Heroes of Olympus series

P- Eden Hazard

S- Gale Hawthorne from the Hunger Games trilogy

P- I have soo many that now it’s taking me forever to prioritize

S- Nick from Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

P- Eden Hazard is a footballer buddy. (because I obviously don’t know the person right? -.- )

S- I know. You’ve told me.. Several times to be honest xD  Like since the 10th grade or something…

P – Hugh Laurie. James McAvoy *makes a heart shaped thing*

S- And my last one is… This is confusing. Logan Lerman or Dylan O’Brien

P- I have one left. Oh god.

S- HAHAHAHAHA The pain is real xD

P – Okay. Got it. The young Jude Law

S- Cool xD Next question?

3. Top 5 favourite possessions

S- Lemme guess this for you.. 1. Laptop 2. Phone 3.Books (because that’s your life now) 4.Food  5. Clothes maybe?

P- *laughs like a maniac* Not books.. More like 1. Food 2. Food 3. Food 4. Food 5. FOOOOOOOOOD

S- Well, I was slightly correct xD

P- No laptop though.. I don’t use it at all

S- Haha okay then.. I’d probably say 1. Laptop 2. Books (the non-school ones) 3. Baking equipment 4. My song collection 5. FOOOOOOOD

P- Slightly predictable. Let’s do the next one xD

4. Top 5 Most Awkward Moments of Your Life

P – Oh boy.

S- The list is endless. It’s like my life is one big awkward moment

P- 1. You know the messaging incident? I’m not going into details for that one because it’s a little too embarrassing xD

S- 1. Mine is probably walking straight into a glass door… My mother has no idea how we’re related.. (this hasn’t just happened once)

2. So this one time, mom and I were walking and there was this huge metal signboard or something and you could basically just duck under it and keep going.. I saw the signboard and I ducked.. but I didn’t duck quite enough because my head still hit the metal..Mom just walked 3 feet in front of me because she decided she didn’t know me.

That was incredibly awkward..

P- Hahaha… Dude, I hid under a freakin table. So when I was a kid everyone was forcing me to dance at a family function… my way out was to run and hide under a dinner table.

S – Holy shit xD   So you remember Sinhals right? Like one day we had just finished with that really strict persons lecture and we were outside when I told you guys that I was really hungry and the lecturer was right behind us.. He told me to go home and eat instead of hanging around. Awkward as hell.

P- That one time my college physics professor ended up taking my case in front of everyone.. I was standing and waiting for him to correct my journal and there was a line. So he looked at me and he’s like “omg let me correct this girl’s first… it looks like she hasn’t eaten anything since days”.    If he only knew how much I really eat.

S- Not that much though..

P- Shut up. I don’t eat too much at once. But throughout the day I keep eating…. a lot. So at the end of the day, well, you get it

S- Okay okay. I stand corrected. (I’m still correct. She doesn’t eat a lot xD)

Oh so I cut my hair again this year right? So the first day back in school, my political science teacher walks into class and she doesn’t see me at first. Then when she does, she goes “ayee what happened to your hair” and I said “well, I cut it”.. So her reply goes “But you had such pretty hair” And I said “I know..” Oh and then she spent 15 to 20 minutes telling me how I shouldn’t have cut my hair…. Too awkward.

P – HAHA .. that’s hilarious.. So this one time during chem practicals we had to weigh this salt okay.. and basically the instrument is like a plain cover of glass and is open from both sides so that we can put the spatula in and put the salt in the pan. So before me there was this left handed girl and she took the salt container, put it to the left and weighed it. Next it was my turn and there’s like a bunch of people behind me.. So I struggle holding the spatula with my right hand and try putting it through the left window. And I’m literally struggling and I’m clueless… I’m like “damn, this shit’s tough”.. So then a guy behind me goes “why don’t you just put the salt container on the other side and try” And I was like “OMG KILL ME. ” Everyone must have been like this girl’s so freakin dumb. I swear it didn’t strike me.. so I just gave this nervous laugh and moved it..

S- HOLY SHIT xD That would have been priceless..

P- It really wasn’t. I’ve never felt more stupid.

S- Haha.. In our previous school, I was laughing one day and the principal at that time heard it and she literally came upto me and said “I don’t like your laugh. Change it” Too awkward for words..

P- I remember this xD “Change it”. You should’ve been like “I don’t like your face. Change it.”

S- Things I wish I could do… *sighs* Anway, let’s move onto the next question.. I think we’ve made ourselves look weird and stupid enough xD

5. Top 5 Ways to Ward off Boredom

P- Eat food. Music.

S- Umm… Music. Read a book (not the school ones). BAKEEEE.

Ohh go for a walk and drag some friend along with you so that you can rant about the world in general or have weird philosophical conversations xD… And obviously YOUTUBE was invented for a reason… Eat loads of fooood.. I think that’s more than 5 but I don’t care xD

P- Youtube for sure. And sitcoms also. And dude, the most important thing…. SLEEEP. I’m so sleep deprived these days.. I don’t have the time to be bored (yet here she is doing this post, I feel honoured). It’s like study sleep study sleep and well a lot of procrastination..

(This is what happens if you’re a science student. Or a humanities student. Or any student in your senior year. You’ve been warned)

S- How could I even forget sleep and procrastination? xD Basically there’s a ton of ways to not feel bored 😛

P- Buddy, I have to study now. I have prelims…

S- So do I..We have no lives.

P- Buddy, I have a prelim TODAY.

S- Hahahaha good luck xD You’ll slay it (as usual).

*insert some whining about how that’s not true because she’s so incredibly modest… not*

And that’s a wrap because like I said, our lives are hilariously boring. (If that’s even a thing xD) If you did like this post, let me know your thoughts by commenting or emailing me, liking this post or rating it :).. Let me know what your answers for these Top 5’s. 🙂  If you want me to do more posts with P, let me know 🙂

Also, I’ve been slightly addicted to this cover of “Love Yourself” so if you haven’t already heard it, go ahead and do so NOW 🙂

Till next week (or sooner),

A Teenagers Take on Top 5 (Part 1)

Hey guys,

Like I said, this week is going to be more of a filler post because of exams and all that.. So I decided to do a Top 5 post 😛 ( I was in all reality going to do a post on buzzfeed quizzes but then again the lack of correct answers would have just made me cry. So this was the better option.) And this gets more accurate answers (since I’m the one answering them)

Okay, so let’s just get to this post without me ranting about how I need a vacation for the next 6 months. Hibernation will also be welcome.

1. Top 5 favourite excuses (I’m basically telling whoever reads this all my secrets. I’m going to chalk it up to lack of sleep)-

1) My mother’s not going to allow/ mom said no. (End of conversation, she doesn’t even need a reason)

2) I’m sick. (the flu normally works).

3) I have prior commitments (with YouTube, WordPress and loads of chocolate and popcorn.)

     4)  *swiftly changes the topic and avoids answering any questions that might land you in a mess*

5) If none of these work, there’s always the escape clause. Walk away.

2. Top 5 favourite books that you’ve read for school.

Okay, so the education system in India is such that we don’t really read external books (and none of my textbooks are fun. Especially math.) so I’m just going to list down the top 5 books I’ve enjoyed reading in the past few months-

1. I’ll Give You The Sun – Jandy Nelson

2. We Were Liars – E. Lockhart

3. A Work In Progress – Conner Franta

4. On The Fence- Kasie West

5. Since You’ve Been Gone- Morgan Matson

3. Top 5 names you wish were yours.

To be extremely honest, it’d be so weird if my name suddenly became something else.. but I’m going to try my best and most of the names are going to start with an “s”. (P.S. the spellings are what matters 😛  )

1. Selah (it’s so unique)

2. Sasha

3. Skylar

4. Zeta

5. Seraphine

The really cool part about all these names is that you don’t really need a surname after it 😛

4. Top 5 Favourite Things about the Internet

*This is so simple*

1. YouTube

2. The Blogging Comunity (especially on here. I’ve met so many incredible people)

3. Twitter

4. Google  (When in doubt, remember, google has all the answers. P.S. people use “google” as a verb these days. It’s scary)

5. Getting reviews about almost any book. It’s helpful because at least you know which book is going to be a bummer. However, there are a ton of spoilers as well. But you can’t win ’em all.

5. Top 5 places you’d like to live

This is a little too tough cause there’s so many places but if I had to choose (in no particular order)-

1. Paris

2. London

3. Bombay (because you can never replace it)

4. New York

5. Los Angeles

And that’s it for today’s post 🙂 If you enjoyed reading it, let me know by singing a random song 😛 And let me know what your answers would be by commenting or emailing me 🙂 And if you haven’t heard this song, it’s pretty amazing! So listen to it 😀

P.S. If you’d like me to do a Top 5 post with P let me know that as well by commenting. If you haven’t heard of P, she’s done a couple of posts with me here and here

IMPORTANT NEWS: I’d like to know which of my posts have you liked the best like ASAP. So pleeease let me know that 🙂

Till next time,

A Sick of Studying Teenager.

A Teenagers Review of : “Along For The Ride”

Hey there Monday. It’s good to see you again. *no, not really.*

Anyway, I’ve decided to do a few book reviews here and there and I decided to do my first one today!

Here’s my take on Sarah Dessen’s “Along For The Ride”

Along for the ride

In really brief terms, the book’s about a girl and her summer before she goes off to college. It’s about exploring yourself and finding yourself in the mess you call life.

The book is written from Auden’s point of view. She’s academically brilliant and she’s worked her entire life to become that brilliant because that’s what is expected from her by her parents. Her parents are divorced and are both spectacular in their own fields, so they expect the same from her. She has an older brother who’s a free spirit and wanders all over Europe for half the book (he’s pretty entertaining).

The summer before her college starts, Auden decides to go to visit her father and his new wife and spend the summer in a tiny beach town. It’s one summer that changes her perspective of people and makes her re-think who she wants to be. Even though what she does sounds mundane and easy enough, it’s really not (atleast once you start reading it, it’ll become clearer). She does things like helping out with her newborn half-sister, making new friends, riding a bike, meeting a guy and discovering herself. Did I mention riding a bike?

For someone who thinks she has her life set in stone and knows exactly what she wants to do and judges people the moment they meet, she learns there’s a lot more than meets the eye. Then there’s also Eli, an ex-BMX racer who stopped racing after his best friend died in an accident (for which he blames himself). He becomes Audens late- night- drive -around- town- buddy(they’re both insomniacs) and they help each other through their struggles in life.

I wish I could tell you more about the book other than what I just did but I’d be giving away a ton of spoilers. Which I clearly don’t want to do. HAHA. I wrote and deleted a ton of spoilers because well, I couldn’t help it. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book and if you do read it or are considering reading it, please do! It’s probably one of my favourite Sarah Dessen books.

And here are 15 of my favourite quotes from the book –

1. “The bottom line is, what defines you isn’t how many times you crash, but the number of times you get back on the bike. As long as it’s one more. you’re all good.”

2. “It was terrible and awful when someone left you. You could move on, do the best you could, but like Eli had said, an ending was an ending. No matter how many pages of sentences and paragraphs of great stories led up to it, it would always have to have the last word.”

3. “You’re supposed to fail sometimes. It’s a required part of the human existence
-Eli”

4. “Society. The same society, I might add, that dictates that little girls should always be sugar and spice and everything nice, which encourages them not to be assertive. And that, in turn, then leads to low self-esteem, which can lead to eating disorders and increased tolerance and acceptance of domestic, sexual, and substance abuse.”

“You get all that from a pink Onesie?” Leah said after a moment.”

5. “Just because something’s damaged doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be treated with respect.’

‘Ad,’ Wallace said, ‘it’s a coffee table, not an orphan.”

6. “It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth.”

7. “It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn’t be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something’s difficult to come by, you’ll do that much more to make sure it’s even harder -if not impossible- to lose.”

8.  “Call it Chicken Salad”

9. “…You can’t unlearn something, even if you want to. You know what you know.”

10. “…You don’t want the best of times to be just one thing, forever. You have to have a lot of bests of times, each one topping the last. You know?”

11. “ ‘My point is you’re different here.’
‘Hollis I’ve only been here for a month.’
‘A lot can happen in a month’ he replied. ‘Shoot in two weeks I met my future wife changed my entire life’s trajectory and bought my first tie.’
‘You bought a tie,’ I asked. Because honestly this was the most shocking part.”

12. “We didn’t talk about our scars, the ones you could see and the ones you couldn’t.”

13. “To me, summer has always been about potential. This was especially true when I was in high school. Those 3 or so months between 1 school year and the next always meant change. People got taller or wider or smaller. They broke up or came together, lost friends or gained them, had life experiences that you could tell had transformed them even if you didn’t know what they were. In the summer, the days were long, stretching into each other. Out of school, everything was on pause and yet happening at the same time, this collection of weeks when anything was possible. As a teenager, I was always hoping to change, to become someone other than who I was. Each summer, I felt I had the chance to do that. All I had to do was wait and see what happened.”

14. “Maybe if I’d agreed to do the debutante thing like she wanted. Or taken up pageants instead of riding jump bikes with a bunch of grungy boys. I’d always tell her, why can’t I do both? Who says you have to be either smart or pretty, or into girly stuff or sports? Life shouldn’t be about the either/or. We’re capable of more than that, you know?”

15. “Morning would come before we knew it. It always did. But we still had the night, and for now, we were together, so I just closed my eyes and drank it all in.”

I’m pretty sure everyone’s heard this song by now. It’s the Fight Song by Rachel Platten. If you haven’t heard it, please do! My favourite lines from this song are ” I have one match, but I can cause an explosion” *pretty amazing song*

AND that was the review. If you liked it make sure to like, rate, comment, reblog and follow and read the book 😛 Also, if you’d like me to do more reviews, then let me know by either emailing me or commenting because it always helps and if there’s any specific book/series/ anything at all really that you want me to do a review of, lemme know, again, by commenting or emailing 🙂

1. Thank the person who nominated you- MAJOR thanks to Every Word You Say and Paradoxical Sadness because they’re awesome 🙂

2. Post a quote:

Today’s quote is: “If you really want things to change, you can make them change no matter who you are”. – Saving June (one of my favourite books)

You just need to believe in what you’re saying 🙂

A Teenagers Take on the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge:Day 2

Hey guys,

I’m still doing the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge and I’m supposed to post my second quote.

So the rules for this challenge are-

1. Thank the person who nominated you (Done this on the last post.. but thanks again Every Word You Say and Paradoxical Sadness for being such amazing people) *I’ve linked them in the previous post, so if you want to visit their blog (and you must) then go to the post before this 🙂

2. Post a quote.

Today’s quote is : “It’s no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then. ” – Alice in Wonderland.

People change. You change. Your perspectives change and you must allow all that change to take place because holding on to something is the safer option. It doesn’t let you explore. And once you move on ahead, there’s no coming back. But that’s the beauty of life. You’re not supposed to live it by restricting yourself from growing.

3. Nominate 3 new blogs every day.

1. ahystericalselcouth

2. Ruined Mortal

3. Alternative Sunny Days

This song thooo 🙂

And that’s about it for today,

I’ll be blogging tomorrow (hopefully),

A Burdened With Projects Teenager.

A Teenagers Take on the 3 Days 3 Quotes Challenge: Day 1

Hey guys,

I figured I’d get started on one of the challenges that’s definitely going to take me more than a day to complete 🙂

So I’d like to thank two of my favourite bloggers for nominating me – Every Word You Say and Paradoxical Sadness. If you haven’t already been to their blogs (which is slightly impossible), do so! They’re both amazing 🙂

Okaay,

So the rules for this challenge are-

1. Thank the person who nominated you – THANKS SO MUCH 😀

2. Post a quote for 3 days

Today’s quote is (you’ve probably seen this before on here) :- “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour” – Dash and Lily’s Book Of Dares

People who can laugh, be sarcastic and have a good sense of humour are my favourite people. 🙂

3. Nominate 3 other blogs. Okay, so I think everyone I know has done this at some point but here it goes-

1. A Clouds Life (one of my newest blogger friends) 🙂

2. Life of a 17 Year Old Indian (she gets me 😛 )

3. Quizzically Challenged ( we bonded over “loud” teachers 😛 )

And you HAVE to hear this mashup by Anthem Lights.. It sounds so good 🙂 I’ve recently become slightly addicted to their covers and this is a pretty old one(It’s like 3 years old) but I cannot get over it.

That’s it for today,

I will be posting again tomorrow 🙂

A Teenagers Take on the Very Inspiring Blogger Award

It’s not a Monday but I just had to do this post. It won’t be too long.. or atleast I hope it won’t.

You guys I’m beyond happy to tell you guys I got nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by…. wait for it…. ELM. *EDIT OMG Every Word You Say also nominated me.. I absolutely cannot thank you guys enough. If you haven’t already been to their blogs.. do so immediately. They’re pretty awesome 🙂

ar-inspiringblogger1

So I’m just going to get right to it

The RULES:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog. Thanks again Elm 🙂

2. Add the logo to your post. Done *puts a checkmark*

3. Nominate 10 bloggers that inspire you.

Okay so I’m sure most of you have been nominated for before but I had to-

1. Dream Wanderer

2. Every Word You Say   (this was before I saw that she nominated me)

3. Paradoxical Sadness

4. My Personal Teen Life

5. Cloud Busting

6. Unfashionable Cupcake

7. Sam O Bscure

8. Your Miniinfinity

9. A Teenage Diary Online

10. One Bridge of Hope

And now for the questions that I must answer-

1. In your personal life, who do you think inspires you the most? – I think it’s the people who have a direct influence on me like my parents and friends. It’s a cliche answer but it’s true. Also, books and certain songs inspire me as well 🙂

2. Who is your role model?- I don’t have one particular person that I look upto but several of them. I look upto Katniss and Tris from Hunger Games and Divergent. I look up to Hermione Granger for her intellect. And then there’s my parents who are my obvious role models and my friends because they’re the ones who make up a large part of my support system.

3.  Do you make efforts to make others feel emotionally and mentally stronger? For example- boost their confidence or give them suggestions? – For sure. But I’ll only do that if there’s an iota of truth in what I’m saying. I don’t believe in giving false hope to people or giving them wrong suggestions just to make them feel better because in the long run it’ll only make them feel worse. So it’s better if the truth is told gently if it’s bad and with crazy happiness if it’s good. It’s the candor that matters more than all the superficial things you can say to someone.

4. What sound do you hear at this moment? – My younger brother’s studying for a test so I can hear his voice and of course I can hear music. Tyler Ward’s cover of Blank Space to be more precise..

5. What’s your favorite quote? – There’s just way too many.. From books, movies and songs.. My favorite quotes are from all over but if someone asked me right now? It’d be “It’s just nice I guess. Knowing that someone else can put into words what I feel. That there are people who have been through things worse than I have and they came out the other side okay. Not only that but they made some kind of twisted, messed-up sense of the completely senseless. They made it mean something. These songs tell me I’m not alone. If you look at it that way, music… music can see you through anything.” – Saving June

However my favorite quotes keep changing. But this one I really like. It’s stayed with me for a long time…

And that’s about it for this post 😀

If you like Blank Space by Taylor Swift, listen to this amazing cover by Tyler Ward

I’ll be posting on Monday from now on again so follow me so that you’ll know when I post 🙂

If you did like this post please like, comment, reblog, rate it or follow me.. Also lemme know what you thought about it by either commenting or emailing me 🙂

Till Monday,

A Kinda Inspired Teenager

A Teenagers Take On The Sisterhood Of The World Blogger Award

So when I opened up my blog today I could not believe the fact that I had gotten nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award. LIKE WHAT EVEN.  So of course I had to post even though it’s not a Monday. But I will be posting again on Monday as well so yeaa…

ANWAY, back to the award.

I’m still kinda reeling in shock that someone would actually choose me 😛

Thanks Teenage Diary for being the one to nominate me 🙂

sisterhood

Okay so here are the rules

1) Thank the blogger that nominated you and post a link to their site (done done done. Go check her site out. It’s pretty amazing)

2) Put the award logo on your site (How on earth do you do that? If you do know that please lemme know cause I seriously have no clue)

3) Answer the questions

4) Nominate seven blogs

So my nominations are-

1) Cloud Busting

2) Every Word You Say

3) Just Elm

4) Paradoxial Sadness

5) Mini Infinity

6) Ashlyn Taylour

7) Just Your Typical Teenage Girl

And now for the questions-

1. In one word, how would you like your readers to describe your blog?

Probably random, because that’s exactly what my blog is. The topics I write about are random. If I throw in a couple of the poems I’ve written, they’re random too. So to be honest, my blog is just very random. And it also happens to be a reflection of me, cause well I happen to be spontaneous. The dancing on the road with my friends just because we felt like it spontaneous. Which in teenager terms is either called random or weird. I’m okay with being called either. It’s fun seeing people connect with what I’ve written and I’ve loved every minute of it. Holy moly. They just asked for one word and you just had to start rambling didn’t you?

2. Which is your favorite among all your blog posts and why?

I like to think about my blog as a safe haven where I can pretty much post anything and not be judged because of it. My blog is like one of those dishes which have everything and nothing in them with some sides of utterly weird ramblings and musings and a glass full of an opinionated teenagers opinions with just the right amount of fizz. I just read that and it made no sense but I’m not deleting it. Anyway, if I had to choose a favorite post it’d probably be between a) “10 Posts That Describe What A Teenager Goes Through” because I had the funniest time finding those posts and getting all nostalgic. Plus it was then that I realized the direction I want this blog to go in and decided to do things a little differently than I had before and b) “Hilarious Blog Post Prompt QandAs And A Couple of Amazing Songs” because I had a really good time writing this post with one of my closest friends.

3. What, who inspires your blog posts?

My blog posts are literally taken from things I’ve seen and done and things I want to see and do. My inspiration cannot just be credited to one person or thing because I get inspired from again anything and everything. There are times when I spend almost 4 days writing a post because I’m not feeling inspired and then there’s times where I spout out a post in 15 minutes flat. My inspirations is therefore life. And of course there must be sufficient credit given to Tumblr, YouTube, Instagram, Bloggers and to the people I know who are crazy enough to be my friends.

4. What do you aspire to learn this year?

This one’s simple. Math. It’s something I hate but I’m hoping I can learn to love it before my finals. Oh and learning how to bake a rainbow cake. Somehow I never get to the 7 layers, I get slightly bored and then leave it. Then there’s also the fact that I aspire to stop procrastinating as much as I do… When you come to think of it there’s a lot on the list.. But Math’s the most important.

5. What is your favorite book? Why?

I kinda hate questions like this because my favorite book is one that is never the same. I was reading “A Work in Progress” by Conner Franta and that was one book I really liked. But right now I’m going through the “Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares” phase again. Recently I also had the Sarah Dessen phase where I re-read all the books I have of hers. I really liked “Along for the Ride”, “What Happened to Goodbye” and “Just Listen”. But one of my constant favorites had been “Saving June”. That book really gets to me for some reason. Anyway, this is what my answer looks like if you ask me for my favorite book.

6. What’s the most courageous thing you have ever done?

“We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.” – Divergent. Probably the most courageous thing I’ve ever done is stand up for what I believe in no matter who I’m up against.

7. If you could be a superhero what would your superpower be?

I’ve actually given this a lot of thought in the past because I’m writing a story (a sci-fi one) and the protagonist hadn’t been given a power yet.. After a lot of consideration I think it’d be rad if I could control the elements. Fire, Earth, Air and Water.

8.  Who is your female role model?

Closer home my female role models are my mother, (but obvious, she has to deal with a loon like me) and my close friends (they’re all amazing and there’s something to learn from all of them). Other than that I find Jennifer Lawrence to be slightly amazing.

If you haven’t already heard this version of Flashlight by Hailee Steinfeld, please do. It’s amazing.

That’s about it for this post 🙂

If you have been nominated by me, get right to it 😛

A Teenagers Favourite Book Quotes #1

Here arrives another Monday. I kinda hate Mondays but it’s also the day I post so I feel a level of appreciation as well. HAHA. Nah, I just hate Mondays.

For this week’s post I’m going to be sharing some of my favourite quotes from certain books which will definitely make you pick up those books and read them if you haven’t already. These quotes are just the first part of many because I have A LOT of favourite quotes. I’ve just covered about 5 books in this post and if you do like these, lemme know and I shall do more posts like this one. 😀

P.S. I haven’t just taken these from the internet, I actually have all these quotes written down in a small book.

So in no particular order of ranking… here it goes-

1) “He took his pain and turned it into something beautiful. Into something that people connect to. And that’s what good music does. It speaks to you. It changes you.”

                                                                                                                – Saving June

2) “We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.”

– Divergent

3) “Have I gone mad?” “I’m afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”

Alice In Wonderland

4) “The important people in our lives leave imprints. They may stay or go in the physical realm, but they are always there in your heart, because they helped form your heart. There’s no getting over that.”

– Dash and Lily’s Book Of Dares

5) “I’m thinking I would like to dance in the rain with this person. I would like to lie next to him in the dark and watch him breathe and watch him sleep and wonder what he’s dreaming about and not get an inferiority complex if the dreams aren’t about me.”

– Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

6) “It’s just nice, I guess. Knowing that someone else can put into words what I feel. That there are people who have been through things worse than I have, and they come out on the other side okay. Not only that, but they made some kind of twisted, fucked-up sense of the completely senseless. They made it mean something. These songs tell me I’m not alone. If you look at it at that way, music… music can see you through anything.”

– Saving June

7) “Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”

– Divergent

8) The Mad Hatter: “Would you like some wine?”
Alice: “Yes…”
The Mad Hatter: “We haven’t any and you’re too young.”

– Alice In Wonderland

9) “You want meaning? Well, the meanings are out there. We’re just so damn good at reading them wrong.”

– Dash and Lily’s Book Of Dares

10) “We are the ones who take this thing called music and line it up with this thing called time. We are the ticking, we are the pulsing, we are underneath every part of this moment. And by making the moment our own, we are rendering it timeless. There is no audience. There are no instruments. There are only bodies and thoughts and murmurs and looks. It’s the concert rush to end all concert rushes, because this is what matters. When the heart races, this is what it’s racing towards.”

– Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

11) “You can be surrounded by people and still be lonely. You can be the most popular person in school, envied by every girl and wanted by every boy, and still feel completely worthless. The world can be laid at your feet and you can still not know what you want from it.”

– Saving June

12) “A chasm reminds us that there is a fine line between bravery and idiocy.”

– Divergent

13) “If you don’t know where you are going, any road can take you there”

-Alice In Wonderland

14) “There are just lots of possibilities in the world…I need to keep my mind open for what could happen and not decide that the world is hopeless if what I want to happen doesn’t happen. Because something else great might happen in between.”

-Dash and Lily’s Book Of Dares

15) “She’s cinematic and I’m a fucking sitcom.”

– Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

16) “You’re nothing like your sister,” he tells me. “She meant a lot to me, okay? It’s true. But the things I like about you have nothing to do with her. You – you are so strong and stubborn it drives me crazy. You’re the one going through all this and you still put Laney first every time, instead of throwing yourself the pity party we both know you deserve. You call me out on my shit, and I like that, because sometimes I need someone to call me out on my shit. And you get Johnny Cash, and you take these incredible photos, and everything about you makes me hurt, in a good way, and it blows my mind that someone can be so amazing and not even see it.”

– Saving June

17) “People tend to overestimate my character,” I say quietly. “They think that because I’m small, or a girl, or a Stiff, I can’t possibly be cruel. But they’re wrong.”

– Divergent

18) “Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”

– Alice In Wonderland

19) “In a field, I am the absence of field. In a crowd, I am the absence of crowd. In a dream, I am the absence of dream. But I don’t want to live as an absence. I move to keep things whole. Because sometimes I feel drunk on positivity. Sometimes I feel amazement at the tangle of words and lives, and I want to be a part of that tangle. “Game over,” you say, and I don’t know which I take more exception to- the fact that you say that it’s over, or the fact that you say it’s a game. It’s only over when one of us keeps the notebook for good. It’s only a game if there is an absence of meaning. And we’ve already gone too far for that.”

– Dash and Lily’s Book Of Dares

20) “Wold domination is exhausting and cliche. People ought to just focus on being individual responsible citizens of the earth instead of assholes.”

-Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

And because no post of mine is complete with one song attached… I give you… This cover of Blank Space and Style by Louisa Wendorff and Devin Dawson.  It was originally performed by Taylor Swift but this is one of the best covers I’ve ever heard. So do listen to it 🙂

AAND that’s it for this post. Trust me, I have a lot more quotes from these books as well but I couldn’t go putting all of them up here all at once 😀

Again, if you DID like this post and want me to do more of these posts, all you need to do is tell me so. You can do that by rating this post, liking it, commenting, reblogging it or even sending me an email.

Plus my blog turned ONE on Saturday and well *tingly feelings commence*

THE TOP 10 BOOKS THAT EVERY TEENAGER SHOULD READ by Shubhalakshmi

So I’d written a post for the Nerdy Book Club and it got posted just yesterday. 😀

Nerdy Book Club

I love reading books (absolutely LOVE). So when I come across people my age (aka the certain species called the teenagers) who don’t read, I don’t know whether to cry or be amused. I feel like I slowly lose my faith in humanity when I try discussing a certain book and well, the other person hasn’t read it. It can get frustrating for both of us and by the end of the said discussion or conversation; I’m ready to tear my hair out. Because I’m sure that I cannot be the only one who has to be put through this agony, I decided to make a cheat-sheet of books every teenager should have read. A lot of them are pretty mainstream series and books, but there are a couple that aren’t well known.

I’m writing this out of personal experience. So all the books that I’ve mentioned are books that…
