A Teenagers Take on The Song Challenge + A Ton Of Baking

Hey there!

I haven’t posted in a while now because… okay, I have no reason other than the fact that I was just too lazy and spent hours procrastinating XD

So I decided to start blogging again with The Song Challenge 🙂

The rules for this are basically: 1. Put your music on “shuffle”.

                                                            2. Write about the first 10 songs,artist, album that play 

 

This is going to be slightly weird because my iTunes is filled with music right from the time I was 10 till now so there’s about 8 years of music on there.. And I haven’t heard a ton of songs for a while. I’ll link the songs with their videos, in case you haven’t heard it.

1. Heart Attack – Demi Lovato

          I haven’t heard this song in a  year or so but the song’s pretty good. Demi’s a great singer and I’ve been listening to “Stone Cold” on repeat. Her high notes in Heart Attack are brilliant. And I remember all the lyrics 😛 Favourite lyric:  So scared I’ll take off in a rush, I’m flying too close to the sun and I’m bursting your flame.

    2. Everybody Wants To Rule The World- Lorde

         This is one of my current favourites. I’ve been going through a Halsey-Lorde phase.  Lorde’s crazy talented and her voice is incredible with that rasp. Favourite Lyric from this song: Holding hands when the walls come tumbling down/ So glad we’ve almost made it. 

   3. Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

WOAH. Haven’t heard this in ages. It’s like a flashback to the days I didn’t even understand the lyrics completely. Also, the 5 Seconds of Summer cover is pretty cute XD. I’ve stopped listening to Katy Perry in the last couple of years. She’s a great singer but I didn’t quite like “Prism”. Favourite Lyric: You think I’m funny when I tell the punchline wrong, I know you get me so I let my walls come down. 

4. Bad Enough For You – All Time Low

This is such a fun song in a sort of twisted way.But it works for this song and the band. The title’s pretty self-explanatory. All Time Low’s one of my favourite bands. Favourite Lyric: You love to hate me when I’m chasing you and I hate to say this but I’m stuck on loving you, So I’ll pretend that I don’t care, I’ll stand you up to keep you here.

5. Every Chance We Get We Run – David Guetta

Another throwback! I don’t particularly like this genre of music and that’s probably the reason I haven’t heard it in a long time. But this song’s pretty good if you like this genre of music. Favourite Lyric:  A stage before us A song, a chorus We could try, But we don’t want anything to change the mood tonight.

6. Legendary- Daya

I heard about Daya after listening to her song “Hide Away” on T.V. and I’m glad I found her 🙂 Legendary and Sit Still, Look Pretty are great songs. Favourite lyric: We’re not wasting our precious time We know it’s never going past today so.Why not make it legendary? 

7. Social Casualty- 5 Seconds of Summer

YAY!!! I *love* this song. Not just because it’s a 5 Seconds of Summer song but also because it’s sort of relatable.  I hate stereotyping, but I’m sure every teenager has felt this way at some point.  And if you haven’t, you still have a couple of years left 😛 Favourite lyric: Just a kid, it’s all the same Growing up, it doesn’t change Who are they to try and put us down? Had enough of what they say Sick and tired of all their games.

8. Radioactive – Imagine Dragons

I’ve been listening to Imagine Dragons in the past couple of days but I haven’t heard Radioactive in a long time. I prefer “It’s Time” and “Ready Aim Fire” but Radioactive’s pretty good as well 🙂 Favourite lyric: I raise my flag and dye my clothes
It’s a revolution, I suppose We’re painted red to fit right in.

9. Heels Over Head – Boys Like Girls

Yes, that’s the name of the song. I haven’t got the name wrong 😛 This song used to be one of my favourites, for no real reason XD Favourite lyric: And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me And how I’m stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be.

 

10. Colors – Halsey

HALSEY! I’ve been listening to her because of the whole phase I’m going through 😛 But seriously, Halsey is so incredibly talented and her songs give off amazing vibes. She’s got a very distinctive voice and that makes her voice special. Her new song “Castle” came out and it’s incredible. Favourite lyric: You’re ripped at every edge but you’re a masterpiece And now you’re tearing through the pages and the ink. 

 

Also, I’ve been on a baking spree lately (with all the exams getting over) and here are a few things that I’ve been baking. If you’d like me to post recipes, let me know 🙂

A Teenagers Take On Winter

Hey guys,

So this is super random but well I had to post it today because it FINALLY feels like winter. Which is brilliant 🙂

I’ve always *loved* winter. It’s  the only time when going for walks in the morning  (or anytime to be honest) is a pleasant thing to do.. Also, there’s Christmas aka loads of gifts, lovely food and carols – what’s not to love?  

Winter is that time of the year where sipping on hot chocolate and curling up under your blankets till noon is acceptable (at least where I live).

For the past few days, I could feel it getting cooler but today it’s become chilly (which I love) and well, it seems like winter’s finally here! 

Also, it’s going to be Christmas in a couple of days which is exciting as well 🙂 This year, I made Christmas gifts for a few of my friends. It was basically a dessert platter which had a bit of mousse, a brownie, a chocolate-caramel shortbread and a herb and cheese popover to help with the chocolate overload. 

 

 

Baking is one of my favourite hobbies and since my friends like eating what I bake, it was a win-win situation 🙂 Since the past week (the moment school got over actually) I’ve been baking and experimenting.. It’s been fun although mom would beg to disagree because whenever she’s come into the kitchen it’s been a mess xD

The sad part about this winter vacation is that I’m going to have exams the moment school reopens .. and then there’s only an official week of school left for us seniors. I’m literally done with school in another three weeks which sounds crazy xD 

 

The thing is, winter makes me happy. I don’t even know why that’s the case.. but it is 🙂 And I don’t even know the point of this post because winter is just a tiny part of it.. but anyways, things happen.  

 

And that’s basically it 😛 Let me know how you celebrate Christmas, what are your thoughts about winter (if you like it or not) and what you’re going to be giving as gifts by commenting or emailing me 🙂 And this song is literally stuck in my head. I’m not kidding. I’ve been singing it since 6 in the morning (it’s currently 9:30 a.m. now).

A Teenagers Take on The Best Friend Tag

Hey there,

So one of my closest friends (You might remember her from the other post we’ve done together and if you haven’t you can check it out here. It’s some pretty hilarious blog prompts) and I decided to do the friend tag or popularly known as the “Best Friend Tag”. Instead of making a YouTube video, it’s written 🙂 And here it goes

 

Me- When and how did we meet?

P- Eighth grade in school. I sat behind you and I thought you were a jerk (she didn’t use jerk but I’m trying to keep it semi-clean)

S- And then we bonded in the ninth grade… When you realized I was awesome.

P- *starts laughing because she’s mean*

S- Okay next. Who is my hero?

P- The 5 Seconds of Summer guy

S-  HAHAHAHAHAHA. Not really no. I don’t have a “hero”

P- *looks at me as if I’ve lost my mind*

S- Your’s is Roger Federer. 

P- Yes, of course! And what a fail maan.. 

S- Luke Hemmings is more like a major crush 😛

P-  It’s Federer’s birthday today! (because well, obviously I care)

S- Wish him from my side 

P- Sure buddy because I’m meeting him for dinner. (she’s sarcastic. Really sarcastic. It’s like one of the reasons we bond so well)

S- Okaay next question – If I could go to any place on earth where would it be and why?

P- Switzerland and you know why 😛

S- *laughs because I understand why*

P- Wait. Antarctica ❤

S- OMG PENGUINS FOREVER  (it’s an inside joke)

P- YES

S- *laughs again because I’m slightly weird* But otherwise I’d probably want to go to like London or something.. and you’d go to some beachy place

P- Yepp.. What’s the next one?

S- My favourite colour?

P- Easy. Purple

S- Yepp, that’s correct. Is yours blue? Or green? No wait. You like blue right?

 P- I don’t know actually

S- See you like black but black isn’t actually considered a colour and there’s some artistic reason behind it which I forget..Soooo…?

P- Black/blue/red/grey

S- I’m basically right. Okay next question – My favourite food?

P- Ummm. Wait… Brownies! Noo wait..

S- That’s not my favourite food buddy.

P- Pasta? I don’t know man

S- Right now, my favourite food’s the chicken butty from Theobrama (this place which has the most amazing food EVER) But the constant’s dessert.

P- Ohhkay.. I don’t know what that is but okaay. Next?

S- Name of my biggest crush?

P- Luke Hemmings. 

S- YAAAAAAAY *she got his name correct* Your’s is that dude. You know the one you told me about?

P- Yeppp. He’s probably it.

S- Okay my biggest fear?

P- Fans when they’re on the maximum speed?

S- Well, that’s one of them.. so you get that point.. You’re pretty scared of eunuchs.. 

 

Then we started talking about something completely random and forgot about this question. 

*A little while later*

S- Okay next, If I was on a deserted island which 3 things would I have with me?

P- Phone, books and earphones.

S- Earphones? Like whaaat?

P- For music bro

S- I’m on a DESERTED ISLAND. Why would I need earphones for listening to music?

P- I don’t know who said there’s no noise in deserts? (“deserted” island. get it? 😛 )

S- OH BOY.

P- The sand storm and shit could be noisy af.

S- *starts laughing again* When I actually think about it, I laugh a lot… 

P- Okay. You’d have me as the “third thing”.

S- Okay the three things you’d have are a) food b) your science books because even there you’d have no life and c) phone and charger with like those space age plug points so that you could actually charge your phone. 

P- Nice one buddy

S- Theenks. Next, when’s my birthday? (this is actually really funny because she keeps forgetting it)

P- June 17th. 

S- No. No. No.

P- July 17th?

S- NO.

P- What is this? Wait. June 19th.

S- Are you doing this purposely? 

P- You got me 😛

S- Idiot. When is it?

P- (says the correct answer) FINALLY.

S- Your birthday is on (says the correct answer). Okay next, which is my favourite season?

P- Monsoon

S- Haha. No, it’s winter.

P- What even. What’s mine?

S- Monsoon? ’cause of the puddles 😛 (inside joke)

P- Winter

S- Are you serious? I thought you used to love the rains.

P- I used to.. but after this year I don’t. Anyway, what’s the next one?

S- We go out. What do I get to drink?

P- Coke.

S- Yaay! You’d get the same thing cause of our sugar rushes

P- YESS

S- What am I really bad at?

P- Umm.. laughing? (apparently, I have a weird laugh and also because P’s mean to me 😛 )

S- This is really simple. 

P- Waait. Hindi. *starts laughing*

S- *laughs as well* I was going to go with art but that’s true as well 😛 And you’re bad at…. 

*thinking after hours*

S- Baking? 

P- I don’t even bake.

S- Exactly.

P- But there’s a possibility that once I learn how to… I’d be better than youuu (aren’t we soo sure about ourselves? But honestly speaking, she’s very sweet and down to earth. Don’t tell her I told you that)

S- Oh wow. But you aren’t really bad at anything…

P- Yeaa sure. Math? Anyway, what’s the next one?

S- Okay this is the last one. Describe me in one word. GOO. 

S- You’re superweirdbutfunnyandawesome

P- Purpleunicornwhoisbeautifulinsideout (She’s sooo sweet) 

(they did say one word)

And then we both had to study because well, I have exams and P has a couple of tests.

A Teenagers Take on the Liebster Award

Caution: Before you read any further, I shall disclose that this a humongous post. Read at your own risk. 

Hey guys,

This is going to be another post on one of the awards I had been nominated for. I know the Liebster Award is only for blogs with less than 200 followers, but I was nominated when I was at 197 followers… so I’m guessing I can still do this 😀 

I had always wanted to be nominated for this award (it’s pretty creepy how much I wanted it) and you cannot IMAGINE how happy I was when I saw that I was nominated by 3 of my favourite bloggers on here! 😀

So a major thank-you to Life of a 17 Year Old Indian , Paradoxical Sadness and Every Word You Say. If for some odd reason you haven’t come across their blogs yet, visit them because all of them are amazing 🙂

And before this goes on to be longer than I ever imagine it to… I’m just going to get started. Here are the rules-

 Okay, so I’m going to start with Every Word You Say’s questions first-

 1. If you had to sum up your life in one sentence, what would it be?

Ans. It would probably be : Sleeping, Procrastinating, Eating and Being Confused; Do not disturb or else you’ll be hit with mindless ramblings.  (Yepp, that sums it up)

2. What is your dream job?

Ans . Okay, honest question: Does procrastination count? I’m already a professional at it. 

But to be a little more serious, my dream jobs (yes, it’s plural) would be- opening a small bakery, becoming a food critic (travelling the world and having a T.V. show and all that) and probably becoming an author. 

3. What is your favourite thing about yourself? (feature, personality or both)

Ans. It’s probably my sense of sarcasm (if there’s even a thing called sense of sarcasm). I mean I’m becoming so sarcastic that sometimes I don’t even know if I’m being serious or not. 

4. Do you own any pets?

Ans. Unfortunately, no.

5. What sounds can you hear right now?

Ans. My younger brother whining about homework and a cover version of Bad Blood. I’ll probably put the video in this post.. 

6. If you could only keep one physical object that you own and everything else would be destroyed, what would you keep?

Ans. This is going to sound slightly ridiculous.. but probably food. (Is food even counted?) Because you cannot ask me to choose one thing, there’s so many! 

7. What were you like when you were growing up?

Ans. I was annoying. Plain and simple. If I met my younger self right now, I’d probably yell at her (or me, I don’t know)

8. What’s your favourite movie?

Ans. I’m not much of a movie person… so I really can’t answer this..

9. When was the last time you laughed and why?

Ans. About fifteen minutes ago at something my mother said…  and then five minutes ago when I heard my brother whine about 6th grade studies (poor kid has no idea what’s going to happen when he enters high school)

10. What is your happiest memory?

Ans. I have a lot of happy memories and it’s going to take ages if I sit and write all of them (hence I shall spare you all the torture)

Ans. Easiest answer ever: Editor for the school newspaper!

2. Writing or reading or drawing?

Ans. More like writing and reading. Definitely not drawing. My artistic abilities extend to stick figures only.

3. Favourite food and why?

Ans. I’m going to go with anything sweet (basically chocolate). And do I really need a reason for being in love with chocolate? Okay here’s one: It’ll never break your heart and will always be there for you! 🙂

4. Do you like turtles and/or tortoises?

Ans. I think they’re cute but I’m neutral towards them.

5.  What is your idea of the perfect gift for a loved one?

Ans. This differs from person to person, but I love to give DIY things to them.. I basically hand them a box of homemade brownies these days.

6. What do you think of 50 Shades of Grey?

Ans. Umm.. *awkward silence* Let’s move on. 

7.  What Hogwarts house do you identify yourself with and why?

Ans. Fellow Potterhead! *gives you a fist bump* Okay, so I identify myself as a Ravenclaw even though I’d love to be in Gryffindor. It’s probably because I admire what Ravenclaw stands for and I’d fit in much better there.

8. Best piece of poetry you’ve read?

Ans. I’m horrible with these answers. I cannot choose the best one. It’s just not possible. But a friend of mine writes amazing songs and poetry so go check her blog out – Tessellating Sunshine 🙂

9. Do you like Facebook?

Ans. Not anymore. I don’t think I’ve been on there for a while now..

10. HAHAHAHA. I laughed for 10 minutes straight! Thanks for that 🙂

Ans. That’s a pretty interesting question.. my favourite sound would probably be the music I’m listening to, the sound of my parents agreeing to whatever I’ve said and the sound of rain. I love the rain and thunderstorms…

2. If you could travel to one place in the world for free, which place would it be and why?

Ans. Could I travel the world instead?

3. Your favourite food?

Ans. Done this one before.. chocolate 🙂

4. What would you name your life if it were a book?

Ans. I’ve actually come up with quite a few titles that could easily become best-sellers.. Here are some of the best ones –

Ans. My family. I know I haven’t mentioned my friends but the friends I’m talking about are also family 🙂

Ans. Can Luke Hemmings be counted? Please? He’s practically a fictional character!

Ans. I don’t really have a philosophy (shows you exactly how confused I am) but my parents keep stressing the point that I need to work really hard to get where I want to be because in their words “There are no free lunches”

Ans. I’ve never been in “love” and my only career has been studying.. But I’d still probably choose career.

Ans. A pencil. I’m going to stab those zombies with my pencil.

A Teenagers Take on The First Post Challenge

Hey Guys,

It’s another Monday and it’s pouring here. Which is unfortunate because all I want to do is curl up and never leave my bed. But you can’t always get what you wish for. 

Anyway, I’m not going to ramble on any further. So I was nominated for the first post challenge by the one of my favourite bloggers – Paradoxical Sadness. If you haven’t already checked her blog out, please do! 

So the basic idea is I talk about my first blog post (I don’t even remember what I posted). It was more than a year ago and my blog has come such a long way since then! So the rules for this challenge are:-

Food Items That Can Be Eaten Only One Way- Messily!

Hey guys, 

It’s been a while since I’ve posted because well, I’m the epitome of laziness.

I remember coming across this quote once – “No mess is too messy.” Clearly, they didn’t take into account the mess by us when eating a variety of different dishes or surely, that quote would have undergone a severe change. 

I thought about this post while I was trying to eat a melted chocolate bar quite unsuccessfully I might add (It’s chocolate. Of course I’d eat it. ) . Picture the scene melted chocolate all over your face, hands and even hair but not much in your stomach. What a waste of good chocolate. Anyway, so as I sat there contemplating on whether I should get another bar of chocolate or not, I decided against it and instead started to come up with some food items that can only be eaten one way- messily!  P.S. Almost all the pictures have been taken from Tumblr 😀

Here goes the list in no particular order-

1) Melted chocolate bars or just melted chocolate– Need I explain myself further? If you’re planning on eating a melted chocolate bar make sure you know know that a majority of the chocolate is going to be all over you face, hands and even hair and only 0.99% of it will actually be eaten by you. 

My solution to this is DON’T eat melted chocolate bars, put them in the freezer and wait. But let’s face it, if you’re someone like me and it’s chocolate we’re talking about, patience is not our strongest virtue.

Makes you hungry even after you’ve just eaten..

This lovely, almost-hypnotising picture of melted chocolate will be the reason you have to wash your hair and face atleast five times to make sure it’s all out..

 2) Chicken Wings – Ever tried eating chicken wings and not had sauce all over your hands and made your face look like a blood-stained (or in this case sauce stained) creature dressed up for Halloween? Yea, that would be a negative. Chicken wings are one of the messiest things to eat and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t eat them without a thousand tissue papers to help you clean up the mess you’ve made. 

My solution to this is well, just make sure you have rolls and rolls of tissue papers with you.

 3) Croissants – These might be slightly difficult to make… but they’re even more difficult to eat. No matter how hard you try to eat a croissant neatly and in a non-messy manner, there’s going to be crumbs EVERYWHERE. It’s straight out of someone’s flaky nightmare. Literally. These look like little angelic treats but they’re a nightmare. And the ones with melted chocolate inside them? Oh boy. 

My solution – I don’t think there is one. 

This post is making me hungry…

4) Crabs – I’m not a big fan of crabs… but whenever we do eat them, let’s face it, we leave a mess. 

My solution- Carry a bib/ mini-apron maybe?

When your food looks like this, the word ‘neat’ shouldn’t even be in your dictionary..

5) Ribs– No explanation needed for this one. If you can find me one person who can eat ribs without creating a mess, take a video of it and put it up on YouTube and send me a link. Because I still haven’t come across someone who can eat ’em without making a mess.

This mess will always be too messy!

I’d gone to this place called “Sans Churros” where they serve literally only chocolate and churros. It was delicious and I’ll put a couple of pictures that I took on here.

How do I even begin to talk about food?

I absolutely LOVE food. The forever kind of love.

It’s scary actually.

I probably care more about food than a lot of other things.

Messed up priorities, I know.

Food is like the peanut butter to my jelly;

It’s the apple to my pie;

It’s the cheese to my macaroni;

It’s the fizz to my Pepsi;

It’s the bread to my butter;

It’s the gravy to my mashed potato;

It’s the marshmallow to my hot chocolate;

It’s the cheese to my nachos;

It’s the dimsums to my sui mai;

It’s the butter chicken to my naan;

It’s the pizza to well, my pizza;

It’s the frosting to my cupcake;

It’s the milk to my cookie;

It’s the bacon to my eggs;

It’s the glaze to my donut;

It’s the cherry to my sundae;

It’s the milky to my way;

It’s the pop to my tart;

It’s the corn to my pop;

It’s the ketchup to my fries;

It’s the ice to my cream;

It’s the chocolate to my brownie;

It’s the beat to my heart;

It’s the love to my life.
