A Teenagers Take on The Song Challenge + A Ton Of Baking

Hey there!

I haven’t posted in a while now because… okay, I have no reason other than the fact that I was just too lazy and spent hours procrastinating XD

So I decided to start blogging again with The Song Challenge 🙂

The rules for this are basically: 1. Put your music on “shuffle”.

                                                            2. Write about the first 10 songs,artist, album that play 

 

This is going to be slightly weird because my iTunes is filled with music right from the time I was 10 till now so there’s about 8 years of music on there.. And I haven’t heard a ton of songs for a while. I’ll link the songs with their videos, in case you haven’t heard it.

1. Heart Attack – Demi Lovato

          I haven’t heard this song in a  year or so but the song’s pretty good. Demi’s a great singer and I’ve been listening to “Stone Cold” on repeat. Her high notes in Heart Attack are brilliant. And I remember all the lyrics 😛 Favourite lyric:  So scared I’ll take off in a rush, I’m flying too close to the sun and I’m bursting your flame.

    2. Everybody Wants To Rule The World- Lorde

         This is one of my current favourites. I’ve been going through a Halsey-Lorde phase.  Lorde’s crazy talented and her voice is incredible with that rasp. Favourite Lyric from this song: Holding hands when the walls come tumbling down/ So glad we’ve almost made it. 

   3. Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

WOAH. Haven’t heard this in ages. It’s like a flashback to the days I didn’t even understand the lyrics completely. Also, the 5 Seconds of Summer cover is pretty cute XD. I’ve stopped listening to Katy Perry in the last couple of years. She’s a great singer but I didn’t quite like “Prism”. Favourite Lyric: You think I’m funny when I tell the punchline wrong, I know you get me so I let my walls come down. 

4. Bad Enough For You – All Time Low

This is such a fun song in a sort of twisted way.But it works for this song and the band. The title’s pretty self-explanatory. All Time Low’s one of my favourite bands. Favourite Lyric: You love to hate me when I’m chasing you and I hate to say this but I’m stuck on loving you, So I’ll pretend that I don’t care, I’ll stand you up to keep you here.

5. Every Chance We Get We Run – David Guetta

Another throwback! I don’t particularly like this genre of music and that’s probably the reason I haven’t heard it in a long time. But this song’s pretty good if you like this genre of music. Favourite Lyric:  A stage before us A song, a chorus We could try, But we don’t want anything to change the mood tonight.

6. Legendary- Daya

I heard about Daya after listening to her song “Hide Away” on T.V. and I’m glad I found her 🙂 Legendary and Sit Still, Look Pretty are great songs. Favourite lyric: We’re not wasting our precious time We know it’s never going past today so.Why not make it legendary? 

7. Social Casualty- 5 Seconds of Summer

YAY!!! I *love* this song. Not just because it’s a 5 Seconds of Summer song but also because it’s sort of relatable.  I hate stereotyping, but I’m sure every teenager has felt this way at some point.  And if you haven’t, you still have a couple of years left 😛 Favourite lyric: Just a kid, it’s all the same Growing up, it doesn’t change Who are they to try and put us down? Had enough of what they say Sick and tired of all their games.

8. Radioactive – Imagine Dragons

I’ve been listening to Imagine Dragons in the past couple of days but I haven’t heard Radioactive in a long time. I prefer “It’s Time” and “Ready Aim Fire” but Radioactive’s pretty good as well 🙂 Favourite lyric: I raise my flag and dye my clothes
It’s a revolution, I suppose We’re painted red to fit right in.

9. Heels Over Head – Boys Like Girls

Yes, that’s the name of the song. I haven’t got the name wrong 😛 This song used to be one of my favourites, for no real reason XD Favourite lyric: And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me And how I’m stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be.

 

10. Colors – Halsey

HALSEY! I’ve been listening to her because of the whole phase I’m going through 😛 But seriously, Halsey is so incredibly talented and her songs give off amazing vibes. She’s got a very distinctive voice and that makes her voice special. Her new song “Castle” came out and it’s incredible. Favourite lyric: You’re ripped at every edge but you’re a masterpiece And now you’re tearing through the pages and the ink. 

 

Also, I’ve been on a baking spree lately (with all the exams getting over) and here are a few things that I’ve been baking. If you’d like me to post recipes, let me know 🙂

A Teenagers Take on The Miranda Sings Award

Hey guys,

Guess who’s back in less than a day?

Don’t guess. Because well, you’re obviously reading this post on my blog and why would I be talking about someone else? I don’t even know why I write what I write at times (which is about 99% of the time). 

Anyway, I was nominated for this really amazing award and since I haven’t been nominated for a while and I was too lazy to finish up all my other awards from last year… I decided this one just HAD to be done. Also, my friend is a huge Miranda Sings fan so it’d be weird if I didn’t do this 🙂

So without rambling on about something that makes no sense, I’m just going to start with the award.

And now we get to the 7 things I love about myself.. (I didn’t realize how hard it was to come up with 7. I’m not even kidding. ) Anyway, here they are

1. I’m good at writing. It’s always been something I’ve been good at.. Probably because I started reading from a really young age..Also, if you read, there’s a really good chance that we’ll become friends 🙂

2. I’m really sarcastic. And I believe sarcasm is a great attribute to have because it just adds to your sense of humour and I love people who have a dry sense of humour. It really makes life fun.

3. I can bake. Brownies, Lemon Cheesecakes,Shepherd’s Pie…Not to mention Cookie-Cakes. It’s really fun to bake and it’s so therapeutic! 

4. I’m a good listener. It’s always been one thing that I like about myself.

5. I have good music taste. This is so subjective because sometimes I’ll listen to completely random songs and then wonder what’s wrong with me.. But mostly, I have good music taste. 

6. I make friends easily.. I’ve changed schools 4 times till now and it’s never been hard to make friends. I still keep in touch with them. I even talk to the people I met at an MUN two years ago. 

7. I’m not too fazed by things. Like it’d take something really huge to mildly shock me. It’s probably because I already plan to think about the worst case-scenarios and the best case ones.

A Teenagers Take On Winter

Hey guys,

So this is super random but well I had to post it today because it FINALLY feels like winter. Which is brilliant 🙂

I’ve always *loved* winter. It’s  the only time when going for walks in the morning  (or anytime to be honest) is a pleasant thing to do.. Also, there’s Christmas aka loads of gifts, lovely food and carols – what’s not to love?  

Winter is that time of the year where sipping on hot chocolate and curling up under your blankets till noon is acceptable (at least where I live).

For the past few days, I could feel it getting cooler but today it’s become chilly (which I love) and well, it seems like winter’s finally here! 

Also, it’s going to be Christmas in a couple of days which is exciting as well 🙂 This year, I made Christmas gifts for a few of my friends. It was basically a dessert platter which had a bit of mousse, a brownie, a chocolate-caramel shortbread and a herb and cheese popover to help with the chocolate overload. 

 

 

Baking is one of my favourite hobbies and since my friends like eating what I bake, it was a win-win situation 🙂 Since the past week (the moment school got over actually) I’ve been baking and experimenting.. It’s been fun although mom would beg to disagree because whenever she’s come into the kitchen it’s been a mess xD

The sad part about this winter vacation is that I’m going to have exams the moment school reopens .. and then there’s only an official week of school left for us seniors. I’m literally done with school in another three weeks which sounds crazy xD 

 

The thing is, winter makes me happy. I don’t even know why that’s the case.. but it is 🙂 And I don’t even know the point of this post because winter is just a tiny part of it.. but anyways, things happen.  

 

And that’s basically it 😛 Let me know how you celebrate Christmas, what are your thoughts about winter (if you like it or not) and what you’re going to be giving as gifts by commenting or emailing me 🙂 And this song is literally stuck in my head. A Teenagers Take on Change

Hey guys,

I’ve got a proper internet connection again! FINALLY. I was about to go stark raving mad if I couldn’t post this week as well. 

Anyway, let’s not get into that. Or we’ll be stuck there forever. And that’s a long time… or not. 

So recently I went on a Tribal Trip from school which was super fun 😀 and went on a little bake spree as well 😛

Also, if you’ve read my blog before and know who P is (if you don’t, she’s my best friend) it’s her birthday today!! And we finally met after what seemed like ages.. 🙂

Now that that’s done.. let’s get to the post.

I’ve recently realised how much a person can change in just a year. I know I have. And I know a ton of other people who have as well.. It’s crazy how someone I would talk to endlessly with is just another stranger now. I met the person the other day and made awkward conversation for 5 minutes before bailing because I couldn’t believe that we used to be so close at one point of time.

And that’s the thing you see, people change. Things change. You change. You get sick of people and drop them without a second glance. You start talking to someone who you severely disliked a while back. You try out new things. You change with every single moment. And hey, sometimes change is a good thing. 

Today, when I met all my closest friends, the conversation we had was different than what we’d have last year, maybe even 4 months ago. It was downright hilarious all right but it was different. But that was okay. It was great even.

And it’s hard to even think that I’ve changed because it still feels like me. I mean I still laugh at the weirdest times, I’m still sarcastic to 5 year olds (long story), I mean I even like the same music I liked a year ago. (My favourite band: 5 Seconds of Summer). It still feels like me underneath everything, so why do people think I’ve changed? It makes me wonder how I can’t see this change, why I can’t see it, when it’s so glaringly obvious to the world around me. 

I guess you never truly understand how much you’ve changed till it’s been years. If I looked at my 7th grade version of myself, I’d laugh because I had no idea I was ever that person. How I was ever friends with certain people, how I liked that music. It hits you not in a couple of days, but more like half a decade. 

An old school friend of mine (when I mean old, I mean 5th grade old) put up a picture of our class photo when we were just 5 years old… Looking back at that picture, there’s only 2 people I still talk to from there.. I stopped talking to all of them once we got to the 3rd grade. What’s funny is that people suddenly wanted to reconnect with the friends they lost track of like they’d suddenly go back to being best friends again. 

I wouldn’t want to do that. If I did, I wouldn’t meet the people I’ve met after joining different schools. I wouldn’t get to grow, to find myself. I wouldn’t even meet the people I call my best friends now. Because that’s pretty much what change is. It’s how you perceive it and you might as well get used to it because that’s the only constant.

A Teenagers Take on Being Lazy

I’m lazy. Let’s face it, everyone has a ounce of laziness in them.

I just have a little more 😀

Anyway, this isn’t really a proper post because due to my laziness, I didn’t post yesterday. But I did bake some Oreo Cupcakes so I did end up doing something productive 😛

Does anyone else feel like literally not doing anything and just lying around and just reading and relaxing? Yep, that’s me but just a million times worse. 

And what’s worse is that I really don’t have the time to be lazy now. It’s study, study, study for the next few months because I have my major exams aka my board exams coming up and the results pretty much decide what I do after them. Not to mention I am freaking out. However, me freaking out somehow doesn’t exactly result in me actually doing the work.  

Yes, procrastination as I’ve said before tends to take up a lot of my time. So does YouTube for that matter. I’m forever on it, how else do you think I find the most obscure covers of songs I’ve never even heard the original of? 

After getting like 3-4 hours of sleep for the past 2 months because of projects and exams and all that, to get a break is such a relief. It’s actually closer to a miracle! So I’ve basically become a slug in the past few days and well, this is the result of that. 😀

But this is just a phase ( I hope) and I’m going to be back on track from next week. So expect a little more then. I decided to also include my favourite 10 lazy quotes, so have a laugh and feel proud that you’re not the only one (if you’re as lazy as I happen to be)

So one of my closest friends (You might remember her from the other post we’ve done together and if you haven’t you can check it out here. It’s some pretty hilarious blog prompts) and I decided to do the friend tag or popularly known as the “Best Friend Tag”. Instead of making a YouTube video, it’s written 🙂 And here it goes

Then we started talking about something completely random and forgot about this question.

P- Phone, books and earphones.

S- Earphones? Like whaaat?

P- For music bro

S- I’m on a DESERTED ISLAND. Why would I need earphones for listening to music?

P- I don’t know who said there’s no noise in deserts? (“deserted” island. get it? 😛 )

S- OH BOY.

P- The sand storm and shit could be noisy af.

S- *starts laughing again* When I actually think about it, I laugh a lot… 

P- Okay. You’d have me as the “third thing”.

S- Okay the three things you’d have are a) food b) your science books because even there you’d have no life and c) phone and charger with like those space age plug points so that you could actually charge your phone.

S- Theenks. Next, when’s my birthday? (this is actually really funny because she keeps forgetting it)

P- I used to.. but after this year I don’t. Anyway, what’s the next one?

P- Umm.. laughing? (apparently, I have a weird laugh and also because P’s mean to me 😛 )

*thinking after hours*

S- Baking? 

P- I don’t even bake.

S- Exactly.

P- But there’s a possibility that once I learn how to… I’d be better than youuu (aren’t we soo sure about ourselves? But honestly speaking, she’s very sweet and down to earth. Don’t tell her I told you that)

S- Oh wow. But you aren’t really bad at anything…

P- Yeaa sure. Math? Anyway, what’s the next one?

S- Okay this is the last one. Describe me in one word. GOO.

And then we both had to study because well, I have exams and P has a couple of tests.

As most famous Individuals in the world, Nash Grier rose to fame with some drama of his own.  The self-Proclaim ‘King of Vine’ was thrown shade at for using a homophobic slur on one of his since-deleted Vines. But Of course being the gentlemen he was , Apologized for his nasty behavior in the following statement :

“In April of 2013, I made a vine video using a gay slur.  I made a stupid and ignorant mistake which there is no excuse for.  I talked strongly about something hurtful and serious that I knew nothing about.

1. He’s cute , beautiful , gorgeous ..wait did I mention cute . And his eyes are unreal !

 

2. He Knows how to treat a woman .That’s the one thing all his fans will agree to because of his relationship with sister Skylynn . The care , love and protectiveness he shows her in their videos together is amazing

 

 

 

3. He treat his fans  by setting up meet and greets , listening and taking their video suggestions seriously . And he appreciate his fans and give us advise on how to follow our dreams .

A Teenagers Take on Turning 17

I’m pretty pathetic at introductions to each post..

And the ending…

Sometimes my actual post turns out okay though.. *Sometimes being the operative word*

Anyway, it’s Monday and it’s pretty gloomy weather out here. It’s dull but it doesn’t rain and it’s super humid.. which is just annoying. Anyway, I decided to write a post on turning 17 because apparently it’s a rite of passage or something..

But it’s funny really at how I’m writing this post right now..

Purely because my birthday was a month ago.. more than  a month ago to be honest.

For all those of you who don’t know when my birthday is (that’s basically everyone here) it’s somewhere towards the end of June… Try guessing..

Also, to throw it out there, I’m a Gemini. Maybe your guesses are actually spot on. Lemme know though when you think my birthday was.. if you’re actually going to think about it. 

But the real reason I’m writing this post is because I was randomly going through my “Little About Me” page and I realised that my age is still 16 on there. I updated that right after luckily but that’s when it struck me that I’ve actually turned 17.

I know it’s a month later but this is when it finally struck me. And at the same time it struck me that I have just 5 more months of high school left and that I’m soon going to have to make some really touch decisions. It made me realise that in another year, I’m no longer going to be viewed as the confused and misunderstood teenager that I know I am, but an actual adult. Which makes all this so scary.

I always used to compare 17 to a place that was in the middle of nowhere but on the road to everywhere. I still do, but I’ve realised that 17 is so much more than that. Turning 17 signifies that you still have a year left to fulfill all the childish dreams that you have without all those judgmental stares. It’s a pretty darn important year cause after this no one’s going to buy the whole teenage angst story anymore. They’re going to view you as a responsible adult and think that you have your act together. 

What’s even more frightening than that? I don’t think I’m  going to have my act together in a year. There are so many times when someone asks me how old I am and my first answer’s going to be “16” but I quickly change it to “17”. It’s probably because when I say “16”, I know I have two more years and that seems like a lifetime but when I say “17”, 18 seems so near. 

17 might just be a number to many but once it dawned upon me that in a year there’s going to be so much more expected of me, I freaked. And the result of that is this post. 🙂

Guest Post: The Teenage Bookaholic’s Review of: “The Outsiders”

The Outsiders is a story of two gangs and how they rule the streets. Told from the point of view of Ponyboy, The Outsiders is an unforgettable read. The Socs and the Greasers are from completely different worlds. The Socs are rich kids who get everything they ask for whereas the Greasers struggle to get by and are known for being troublemakers. These two gangs have fought ever since Ponyboy can remember, until one night someone takes it too far. The Outsiders is a timeless classic which will keep you intrigued until the very last page.

I have to admit, when I first picked up The Outsiders I didn’t like it at all, as it is very different from my usual book. However my friend convinced me to try something new and she was right to do so. Most of the books that I usually read are fast paced thrillers, whereas The Outsiders is very different to that. It is quite slow moving which I personally liked for a change, but not everyone enjoys that type of book. As nowadays the majority of books are fast paced. I loved seeing the world from the view of Ponyboy, a fourteen year old boy who has grown up in a gang. I also loved the way that S.E. Hinton gave each character a past and a family which made you feel like you knew them. Throughout the book you see the journey of Ponyboy growing up through his experiences and the way he sees the world changes dramatically. What is remarkable about this book is that even though it was written in 1967 it still relates to what is happening today, in 2015.

I would recommend The Outsiders to anybody who enjoys reading classics and doesn’t mind something a bit more slow moving. I would recommend this book to anybody above the age of eleven as it does have some upsetting scenes in it and it is quite violent at times.

The Outsiders is a novel which is relatable for all teengaers, it shows us that even today teenagers around the world are growing old before their time, and how, even if you have it all it doesn’t make you happy.

A Teenagers Take on The First Post Challenge

Hey Guys,

It’s another Monday and it’s pouring here. Which is unfortunate because all I want to do is curl up and never leave my bed. But you can’t always get what you wish for. 

Anyway, I’m not going to ramble on any further. So I was nominated for the first post challenge by the one of my favourite bloggers – Paradoxical Sadness. If you haven’t already checked her blog out, please do! 

So the basic idea is I talk about my first blog post (I don’t even remember what I posted). It was more than a year ago and my blog has come such a long way since then! So the rules for this challenge are:-

HAHA. I’m as clueless as the next person because this was such a random post. But I do remember how much I loved those desserts. And the caption too.. *cue hunger pangs*
